Wow!
First of all, I am not a good writer nor am I trying to be one. I write from my heart and my feelings of truth and love. For some reason, I came across this blog of yours that I should have read a while back. However, it might not have meant so much then as it does now.

Michelle, your parents have been an icon when it comes to retail in Makati when our families were neighbors in Angela Arcade, Kimpura building and the other buildings in between Miladay Jewelry and King Philip and De Paul. WOW!

We are talking about the mid-60s when Hotel Intercon was not even built then. You probably remembered the Rizal Theatre and Aristocrat restaurant and that other big restaurant near the theatre.
I was still in my shorts, still do wear my shorts up to this day, and will probably wear another pair of short to a special wedding some day. As I did, long time ago, during the wedding of my dear friends in Manila. Of course, I do remember Christine accompanying me to that wedding in Greenhills.
You shared some pretty important lessons shared and passed on to us, things that we will always treasure like respect, love, helping the needy, perseverance, the will to succeed in our efforts to carry on what our dear parents have thought us early in our childhood.
I have been fortunate enough to have met and spent some time with Tito Ting and Tita Mila. They are still part of my life, in some special ways.
I remember our Palo Alto visits to Stanford, when your Mom was getting her treatments every now and then. I still remember the room where she would stay and I still remember very clearly the churches we visited when we would attend those healing sessions.

I remember one evening when your Dad and I took a long walk along Palo Alto, around the Emerson and University Avenue district, just taking our time strolling in the dark side streets and just exchanging smiles, fun chats, some serious short debates over some things that we chose to discuss. That evening was fun for both of us, but more importantly, it was some sort of a rude awakening for both of us. Him, with his own loving wife stricken by this evil disease that sometimes, gets the best of us.
For me, I caught myself quite surprised on how easy it was to communicate with your Pops! I love him and your Mom dearly, and sometimes, when I am not in the midst of any conversation, that special silence that I go through once in awhile is when the love and respect is wondering through the course of the wind and reaching them in my own special terms.
I know they know, that you are all dear to me as well.
For now, from your Pop Vincent, to your brother, Mark Vincent, through your son, Vincent - there is also a Vincent in me. I hope that one day, our paths shall cross and celebrate the moments we all had the opportunity to experience.

Those memorable and unforgettable moments do come, possibly just once in a life time. Sometimes, in sad times or in good times.

There are so many good things that happened that it is okay to dwell 1 step into the past, and leap 3-4 steps into the NOW moment and treasure them. Capture the Moments equally, challenges are there to make us learn from them and builds character that no one can tarnish. Keep your faith in the Lord, our GOD - for he sees everyone equal at the end of the day.

Feel Good, Be Good, Do GOOD
Good Thoughts combined with GOOD Words, surely leads to GOOD DEEDS.

Carpe Diem! michael vincent guidote chuakay

Michelle , thank you so much for sharing this article. Painfully beautiful...you are a living dream of our faithful departed , whose souls have made it in heaven and through that writing have enrich our lives with their living wisdom...beautifully painful.

I've always wanted to visit Sitio Remedios. I've known Dr Cuanang and his nephew Rayboy Barona (Resort Manager) since Ateneo Grade School. When I fly back again to Manila perhaps I will get the chance to visit. After all, my wife is from the region and we always visit Ilocos everytime we fly back to the Philippines for a visit.

My very best regards to your sisters
